Google recently changed their free shopping searches to paid results only. It’s the first time Google have switched their services from a free service to a paid service.
After speaking to Google, the feedback is that the paid results will not only enhance the user experience but will also bring better results for ROI compared to free results.
Product Listing ads have been trialled in the US for a long period of time, and alot of reliable blogs and feedback from Google suggest that the paid ad model works better than a free search model, suggesting these changes are more of an investment than a cost to businesses and agencies.
After all… Google are a profitable business and in the future it might mean businesses will have to pay for their listings in maps, promotional YouTube videos and even highly searched images.
